Featuring a live panel discussion with filmmakers who identify as neurodivergent and neurotypical, sharing how their unique experiences shape storytelling, along with the strengths and challenges they bring to the creative process. 🧠

On May 6, Humanity Rising and @wayfarertheaters are hosting a powerful community event to raise awareness about bullying and youth mental health, featuring nationally recognized speaker, Kirk Smalley.

After losing his 11-year-old son to suicide following severe bullying, Kirk made a promise to dedicate his life to ending youth bullying. Since then, he has shared his story with more than 4 million students and adults nationwide, inspiring young people to take become upstanders and create cultures of kindness and respect.

• Launch of the 2026 RISE UP – Call It Out Challenge (Humanity Rising’s national student-led initiative to end bullying )

🎬 REEL Changemakers: Living Outside Challenge Thi 🎬 REEL Changemakers: Living Outside Challenge

This challenge is inspired by Bella & Arden Brown, teen founders of @livingoutsideorg, who are working to humanize homelessness through compassion, conversation, and action 🫂

Your mission:
Create a 60–90 second vertical video showing how you’re making a difference in your community.

Ideas include:
✨ Volunteering
✨ Donation drives or fundraisers
✨ Awareness campaigns
✨ Creative advocacy
✨ Community solutions

🏆 One student will win a $1,500 scholarship for impact, creativity, and storytelling.

🎙 The winner will also be featured on a Humanity Rising podcast!

Humanity Rising invites students from across the country to submit short films (3 to 10 minutes) for our Spring 2026 Virtual Film Festival, which will be held on May 17th, 2026 during Mental Health Awareness Month.

✨ Theme: Virtues in Action: Stories that illuminate the best of humanity.

⏳Submission Deadline: April 15, 2026 

🏆 Awards & Scholarships
• Best Picture: $2,500
• Signature Focus Award (Bullying & Youth Mental Health): $1,500
• Audience Choice Award (live voting): $1,000

⭐️ “Living Outside” Virtual Film Screening & Schol ⭐️ “Living Outside” Virtual Film Screening & Scholarship Opportunity! 🛍️

🎬 Join Humanity Rising for a meaningful evening on Sunday, February 22, from 6:00–7:00 PM CST! We’ll be screening the powerful student-created short film, Living Outside, followed by a live conversation with Bella and Arden Brown, the teen co-founders of Living Outside — an organization working to change how people understand homelessness through compassion, conversation, and direct action.

💙 We’ll begin the event on Zoom and then move into Humanity Rising’s Metaverse Unity Theater for the screening and live Q&A with Bella and Arden.

🏆At the end of the event, we’ll announce a new service-based scholarship opportunity connected to this cause!
