Illinois Holocaust Museum Virtual Nelson Mandela Exhibit
April 20 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center invites Humanity Rising students to join us on an interactive journey through the history of apartheid and Nelson Mandela’s life. Students will have the opportunity to experience virtually our newest special exhibition, Mandela: Struggle for Freedom, and have a Q&A session with a Museum docent. Students will develop a deeper sense of human rights issues and how they can take action against injustice today.
A not-to-be missed opportunity, it is a day that will inspire students to become change-makers in their community and promote acceptance and equality for all.
Virtual tour of Mandela: Struggle for Freedom. Trace the history of the fight against apartheid in South Africa, with Nelson Mandela as one of its central figures. Through the themes of apartheid, defiance, repression, mobilization and freedom, follow Mandela into hiding after he is declared an outlaw, through his imprisonment and the bittersweet joy of his release after 27 long years. Interact with fellow students to gain a deeper understanding of civil and human rights issues.
